Grandouet Hamlet and its cider estate
A quaint hamlet nestled in a verdant Normandy valley, reminiscent of a postcard scene.
Definitely worth a visit !
NOTE : accessible via very narrow roads :
PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY.
Grandouet is part of the Cambremer village.
Don’t miss a visit to the local cider producer, « Manoir de Grandouet » a delightful place offering excellent products, as well as the charming church.
Stepping into Grandouet feels like a journey back in time, reminiscent of the 19th-century countryside depicted in some of Maupassant’s novels…
1- The most beautiful and authentic cider estate of the area ( to my mind ! )

– From 15 people : around 2 euros per person.
A family estate featuring traditional timber-framed buildings, some dating back to the 16th century – definitely a must-visit.
This distillery should be on your bucket list !
Even if you don’t take the tour, it’s worth stopping by to admire the stunning surroundings.
– The estate has been managed by the same family -the Grandval family- for 3 generations. You are welcomed all year round to discover the cellar and the 16th century half-timbered cider press (a must-see ! ).
– During the visit, you will be explained the old pressing methods used until about 20 years ago and also the current pressing method (pneumatic press) and fermentation tanks.
– There are barrels dating from 1792… which are still used for the fermentation of ciders.
– 20 varieties of apple cider are grown on 28 hectares of apple trees with low and high stems.
– 90 dairy cows graze under the apple trees. The milk they produce is collected by La Houssaye dairy in Boissey to be transformed into AOP Pont L’Evêque and Livarot cheeses.
– At the end of the visit, you will be proposed a tasting of cider, Pommeau and Calvados of several ages and pure apple juice.
– There is a boutique where you can buy cider, Pommeau and Calvados and also delicious cheeses : a good opportunity to buy local products directly from the producer at reasonable prices.
2- Saint-Germain et Saint-Sébastien Church of Grandouet
This charming countryside church, dating back to the 12th and 15th centuries, has been designated as a Historic Monument since 1977.
A preservation association has been established with the aim of enhancing not only the church but also the landscape and architectural heritage of Grandouet.
Inside, visitors will discover an 18th-century altar and altarpiece, octagonal baptismal fonts and terracotta statues.
