Graindorge Cheese Dairy in Livarot

Camembert is a cheese made in Normandy

The only Norman cheese dairy that can be visited !
A company that has grown since 1910 over several generations of passionate cheese makers to produce Livarot and Pont-L’Evêque cheeses.

FROMAGERIE GRAINDORGE
42 rue du Général Leclerc, 14140 Livarot.

– Website HERE (you can find delicious Norman cheese recipes on the website).
– Open all year round and 7/7 in July and August.
– Opening days and times change according to seasons : please check online.
– Free tour and free tasting.

A very interesting visit (even if the place may at first glance seem « made for tourists ») and a unique concept because indeed, for hygiene reasons, cheese factories can not generally open their workshops to the public.
Here, they have adapted the site to allow visits.
– The visit is recommended in the morning to see all production stages.
– There is no production on Fridays so if you can, choose another day.

  • Graindorge has offered visits of its cheese dairy since 2004.
  • To understand all the different stages of cheese production (from milk until the cheese is packaged), you discover the cheese workshops through a corridor of glass-protected galleries.
  • There are also films, information panel boards and games.
  • The visit is on your own and ends by a free tasting of the 4 Norman cheeses in the boutique : Livarot, Pont l’Eveque, Camembert and Neufchatel.
  • Duration of the visit + tasting : around 1hr30min.
Visit in French subtitled in English + paper document translating each video available in 9 languages.
  • And in July & August : a Cheese Bar is open for lunch !
