The name of this part of the Norman coastline, known as The Floral Coast, simply refers to the surrounding flowery countryside stretching from Merville-Franceville to Honfleur. This coastline features a succession of beaches and famous seaside resorts with villas showcasing typical Norman architecture. Cabourg, Deauville, Trouville, and Honfleur are certainly the best known !
I recommend visiting this picturesque coast between Bayeux/Caen and Honfleur for a day or two if you have a vehicle, as it’s the best way to explore. Stop and stroll through some of these charming seaside resorts, then tour the countryside of the Pays d’Auge.
Without a vehicle, it will be complicated. However, see the information below about trains and buses if you have no other option.
Trains and buses to the Floral Coast from Caen or Bayeux
– There are only 2 train stations on the Floral Coast: one in Deauville-Trouville and another in Cabourg-Dives sur Mer.
However, trains from Caen or Bayeux to these stations are not direct and have very limited availability.
– The 2 other nearest train stations inland are Lisieux and Pont-L’Évêque.
– Alternatively, you can take buses departing from Caen train station.
